PHILCAMSAT and Ugland conduct firefighting training pilot course

PHILCAMSAT’s The MAST successfully conducted the Pilot Run of the Train the Trainer for Shipboard Fire Fighting course from February 4 to 6, 2026, with six participants from Ugland Marine Services AS. The event was further highlighted by the presence of Ugland Vice President for Technical, CE Terje Olsen, and Capt. Antonio B. Nacino Jr., Senior Crewing Manager, whose support underscored the program’s importance in advancing shipboard safety competencies.

This specialized training program aims to provide management-level officers with an in-depth understanding of firefighting in a shipboard environment. It focuses on techniques required to establish and lead effective firefighting teams designed to address specific types of onboard fires. Emphasis is given to command and control scenarios transitioning to practical firefighting applications, preparing fire teams to handle fires occurring in deck, engine, galley, and accommodation spaces.

The pilot run marks a significant milestone in PHILCAMSAT’s continuous effort to strengthen maritime training programs and enhance the capability of onboard fire teams. With Ugland’s active participation and leadership support, this initiative sets a strong foundation for future training collaborations aimed at elevating safety standards across the maritime industry.
