PHILCAMSAT, through its BRIDGE Team, successfully delivered the Cadet Resilience Program (CRP-1)—the foundational phase of the Cadet Resilience and Readiness Program. Conducted from July 27 to 30, 2026, at The MAST in Maragondon, Cavite, the four-day immersive workshop supported 12 PTC-CSJ Foundation scholars currently studying at the Mapúa-PTC College of Maritime Education and Training (CMET).
The program complements technical maritime education by building essential behavioral and social-emotional competencies required for demanding shipboard environments.
Developing Character and Behavioral Readiness
Recognizing that technical expertise must be paired with emotional maturity, CRP-1 focused on non-technical skills vital for high-performance seafaring:
- Self-Management & Discipline: Developing routines and habits aligned with maritime standards.
- Resilience & Adaptability: Preparing cadets for the psychological demands of life at sea.
- Communication & Collaboration: Fostering interpersonal awareness, teamwork, and accountability.
- Professional Accountability: Instilling responsibility during critical operational tasks.
Through experiential learning, reflective journaling, community huddles, and a culminating Accountability Circle, scholars gained practical tools to build mental fortitude and operational discipline.
Building a Structured Pathway to Shipboard Life
The Cadet Resilience and Readiness Program serves as a bridge between classroom academics and onboard placement:
- Phase 1 (CRP-1): Focuses on personal development, emotional intelligence, and values formation.
- Phase 2 (CRP-2): Targets practical operational readiness and maritime task execution.
- Cadet Bootcamp: A final preparation stage simulating real shipboard duties and responsibilities.
