PHILCAMSAT successfully conducted the pilot run of its “Fundamentals of Ammonia Fuel” course, a customized training program developed in collaboration with one of its valued shipping partners. The initiative forms part of PHILCAMSAT’s continued commitment to the Maritime Just Transition Project, which supports the shipping industry’s move toward cleaner and more sustainable energy solutions.
As the maritime sector continues to explore alternative fuels such as hydrogen, ammonia, and methanol, PHILCAMSAT recognizes the growing need to equip maritime professionals with the knowledge and competencies necessary to navigate the evolving industry landscape. The pilot session brought together officers and crew members in an engaging and interactive learning environment that covered key topics, including the properties of ammonia, safety considerations, handling procedures, and its operational impact as a marine fuel.
The course was carefully tailored to align with the operational requirements of the partner company, ensuring practical relevance and industry applicability. Through initiatives such as this, PHILCAMSAT continues to strengthen industry readiness for decarbonization while helping ensure that seafarers remain informed, prepared, and empowered throughout the transition toward greener shipping practices.
